Hey Parents
If you’re new to high school band, you may have questions about what band involves and what parents do. Here’s a list of some of the events and how you can get involved. You can always learn more by visiting our band boosters site:

Summer Band and Outfitting Day
Summer Band starts in late July and runs though most of August. The kids spend most of the mornings outside working on marching techniques and move inside for muscial work during the afternoon.
Outfitting Day is held on a day close to the end of Summer Band. You and your kids go through a set of stations to get what you need for the marching season. You can take band pictures, register for your meal plan, try on band shoes, buy spirit gear and more.
Volunteering
We always need volunteers to help keep the band on the field. You can sign up for volunteer work in Charms for each band event. Our volunteers give water to kids at rehearsal and games, help serve meals before games, help check in uniforms after games, and help with equipment movement before and after the halftime show. No experience is necessary to do any of these jobs and we always have some experienced volunteers willing to show you how to do any of these helpful tasks. Please pick a role you would like to help with and dive in!
Check out our 2018 parent volunteers creating our Masterpiece chessboard. At the start of the year, it took about seven minutes to create the chessboard on the field. By UIL, the parents had it down to around one minute. Way to go parents!
In most of our shows, we have parents helping to set up our front ensemble, our front screens, and props on the field. Check out this video to get a “backstage look” at parents helping to push props onto the field at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys.
You can see parents and kids working together to set up the show, perform it, and tear it down, all in fifteen minutes.
